If you’ve been reading this blog for any amount of time (or if you just happen to be clicking through – in which case Hello!!!! – ) you’ll know two things: 1) I like my cats, and 2) I LOVE using Instagram. Here’s a recap of last week in all Instagram.

Bracelets – T + J Designs (hammered bangle and small gold bangle with etchings)

I love these bracelets so much! They’re just the right size for small wrists, and they’re incredibly affordable, yet look so expensive. This entire line of jewelery/accessories is by two of my favorite fashion bloggers, Tiffany (I am Style-ish) and Jennifer (Red Soles and Red Wine). Here’s wishing them continued success with their business!

Lips – Makeup For Ever Aqua Cream in 08

I don’t usually wear this much makeup, but I had a choir concert and a liddlebit of rare extra time before I had to be at the venue, so I went with a bold lip. This lipstick is amazing. The link says it’s eyeshadow, but the specific shade (#08) is formulated for lips/cheeks. It’s the best red I’ve found to date!

Here’s a slightly different look:

(grrrrr)

We had cute little Halloween goody bags given to us at work by one of our intrepid (and bilingual!) investigators. This was my favorite part of my bag.

(treats)

I worked three 14-hour days, a 10-hour day, and so I only worked for about half of Friday, which meant more work on Sunday(!) Sometimes it feels like it never ends. Don’t get me wrong though, some days I’m done by 3:00 and home from the gym and back in my comfy clothes by 5:30. I need some more of those days 🙂 Fatman likes to help.

The kitten is slightly less intrepid.

Have a safe and happy Halloween!

Not indicative of my credit situation, thankfully! Another weekend, another early morning rehearsal, but this time, I was smart enough to check the weather report, and realized it was supposed to be about 80 degrees eventually, so I went with this super-cute dress:

jacket – J.Crew

dress – Audrey 3+1 at Mimi & Red (similar pattern here)

sandals – Charlotte Russe

I can’t say enough good things about this dress – it’s incredibly comfortable, I adore the pattern, and it’s actually only lined to about the knee, and sheer to the floor. There’s a small slit up the back center, and the back is a V! I couldn’t manage to capture it all with my iPhone, and the cats, while furry, are pretty useless when it comes to styling assistance, so hopefully you can see it on the retailer’s facebook page. Here’s a view without the jacket.

Please ignore the giant bag of dry cleaner hangers on the floor. Allegedly, if I return enough of them, I get a discount on my dry cleaning, which would be awesome!

This week has been absolutely exhausting, but on the bright side, it’s starting to feel like fall! This means I can wear jackets again:

jacket – moth

top – girls from savoy

jeans – hudson

shoes – mea shadow (last seen here)

watch – nixon

I love this purple top. It’s super-blousy and comfortable. The jacket is pretty fantastic too – I like how it’s a neutral color but with an interesting print/cut. I will say that the jeans sit a little lower on my waist than I like – I bought them a few years ago (which speaks volumes for their superior quality, since they still look new) at the height of the low-rise heyday, and now I feel like my torso is kind of naked in them 🙂

This past Wednesday was my darling kitten Violet’s birthday – she’s a year old, and still fully in her crazy kitten phase. She loves to run around and flop down on things, particularly paper of all kinds. She was born to one of my friend’s neighborhood feral cats (she found a pregnant cat, took her in, and got her spayed after she gave birth AND found homes for all of her kittens – isn’t that the nicest thing?) and the minute I saw her I knew I had to make her part of the family. Here’s Violet at six weeks old:

And here she is on her first birthday. Please note that I stuck a candle into a bowl of whipped cream, and she is cowering in terror. The giant silhouette on the left side is Fatman, who is clearly not afraid of el fuego:

feliz cumpleanos, chiquita!

Have a super weekend!

Gloomy weather today, and my suit matches the sky:

Suit/Tank/Shoes – Ann Taylor

Here’s a better view of the tank underneath. I love the shredded ribbons/overlay on the tank – just enough to be interesting, but not “we’re at court, let’s disco!”

And the finishing touch, this amazing bracelet from Mimi & Red – it looks like a ton of gold chains, but it’s really just one giant bracelet, and I adore it!

We’re almost to the middle of the work week! Whoo hoooooo!

quick look

It’s been unseasonably warm here, but always super-cold in my office. I’m also trying out a new format for my outfit posts (same low-budget–although I prefer to call it “indie”– iPhone photography though!)

Earrings – gift from mis padres; Dogeared (clovers no longer available, but these are all so cute!)

Cardigan/Tank – Old Navy

Jeans – Citizens of Humanity

Watch – Nixon

Wedges – Steve Madden

I think I got this cardigan on super-clearance at the beginning of the summer. Luckily our office’s air conditioning is set at “perpetual winter” so I love buying end-of-season items when they’re extra cheap because I can still get some use out of them. I also added a few bangles:

Bracelets – Urban Outfitters and Forever 21

Busy weekend coming up, followed by an even busier next few weeks of work! Thankfully, my vacation time got approved for Thanksgiving!

Happy Friday to you all!

It was over 90 degrees at one point today, so this probably seems like a horrible time for this post, but here’s what I’m loving for fall (whenever it gets here):

1. Rose gold

Like I said in an earlier post, I used to be a “silver accessories only” girl, but I’ve recently begun loving gold, and rose gold is no exception! I also love giant watches, so this one by Nixon is perfection:

Love it? Get it here from Mimi & Red. Here’s a similar one by Michael Kors, and a much more affordable one by Fossil.

2. (Faux) Fur!

A part of me is unsure about this, but I’m going to go with it! Loving this vest (even though I honestly haven’t worn a vest since middle school, but now might be a good time to start!)

the perenially fabulous rachel zoe

I especially love this BB Dakota vest (buy it here at ShopBop, and sources tell me it’s also available at Mimi & Red RIGHT NOW for you San Diegans!) Here’s a cheaper version from American Eagle, and a ca-ray-zee fur poncho from Zara, which brings me to my next point…

3. Capes

How cute is this?

coach bonnie tattersall cape

If you have $598 laying around, please get this. I love the colors, the shape, and basically everything about this. If you are like me, and don’t have quite the disposable income for this one, this checker table cape from Anthropologie is a decent substitute, and it’s on sale!

4. Fall food/drinks

My court partner brought in homemade pumpkin bread on Tuesday (like, she cut open and roasted an entire pumpkin because she’s a legit, kickass mom – and attorney! -) and I was reminded of how much I love fall food! Here’s a pretty basic recipe for pumpkin bread, and here’s a fantastically rich recipe for pumpkin bread pudding. I made this last year for Christmas, and it was insanely sweet, rich, and totally delicious.

I also love apples, and am super excited about this apple butter recipe, since it looks pretty foolproof (a must when I’m cooking).

Last, I must admit I love hot chocolate, even though I’m lactose-intolerant. My favorite local hot chocolate is the chili burnt caramel from Eclipse Chocolat. They make their own marshmallows in house, and the drinking chocolate is the perfect combination of spicy and sweet, and completely worth taking all of the Lactaid for.

mmmm hot chocolate

If you can’t get to Eclipse, the Spicy Maya hot chocolate mix from Chuao is also super-delicious and just the perfect amount of spicy. Order it here, although my local Whole Foods carries it too!

Happy fall shopping/eating!

Great news: my friend E (no relation, obvs) just got offered a full-time job at our firm! She’s an amazing lawyer, and an all-around good person to have around. Plus, she’s my cubicle neighbor! In honor of E, who moved here from D.C., I did an homage to east coast style for casual Friday:

cardigan: Forever 21 (last seen here); button-down: Cotton On; jeans: Paige; boots: Zara; watch: Fossil; rings: Mimi & Red (last seen here), Gilt (closeup below, and sorry but I can’t remember the designer!)

These are actually three tiny stacking rings – super pretty and simple 🙂

Monday is a court holiday, so I get a three-day weekend! I think I might try my hand at baking some fall goodies (and obviously some major shopping)! Yay, Columbus Day!
