some from the weekend

I feel like all I do is whine about how hot it is, but that is false; I also obsessively instagram everything! Here are some of my favorite shots from the weekend.

window shopping
Or…more accurately, “browser shopping.” The obsession with turquoise continues! I think the yellow is a fun contrast color, and I always love a delicate gold ring. To be quite honest, I don’t envision these Zara sandals with any of the dresses, but I thought they were fun (and they’re on sale!)

I’m back! After many weeks of being sadfaced about my crappy iPhone/closet mirror photography, I’ve decided to get over myself and keep blogging :)

I’ve also resolved to tweet a daily photo of my outfit, regardless of whether I like it or not. Follow me @evangelina!

One last thing: I’m doing my bi-annual shopping hiatus for July, so expect to see some old favorites, hopefully in new ways!

Happy Valentine’s Day! I’m going to be completely honest with you all: this holiday was way better in elementary school, because I knew I could count on a sweet haul of candy and valentines (sometimes with stickers!) from my classmates. We also had a rule that you had to bring enough valentines for everyone, so no one would feel left out. Sharing is caring.

I’m obsessed with the red-on-pink trend I’ve seen lately all over the blogosphere (here, here, and a sweet variation here)  and on Pinterest as well. If you had any doubt that the colorblocking trend is here to stay for a while, here’s a shot from the Thakoon presentation at New York Fashion Week (taken from The Man Repeller‘s blog):

Here’s my humble attempt:

[sweater - The Limited (on sale!); jeans - Old Navy (much brighter in person than on the website); flats - Halogen; arm party - details here; watch - Nixon]

As usual, the goofy expression is all mine :)

Happy Valentine’s Day!

back to basics

I’m back to working a regular schedule, and missing the festive atmosphere of Christmas and New Year’s.

Blouse – Hinge (at Nordstrom Rack!) Similar here and here.

Camisole – Victoria’s Secret

Pants – Banana Republic (part of the suit last seen here)

Heels – Ann Taylor

Watch – Nixon

Rings – Mimi & Red, T+J Designs Glam Leatherette Ring (on sale!)

I’m a little meh on the outfit, but I love my jewelery today! Here’s a closeup of my new ring and an old favorite bangle:

Hammered Gold Bangle – T+J Designs

Thin Gold Bracelets – Gift from Grandma

Happy Thursday!

Here’s a quick look at my haul from this weekend’s trip to the outlets. Both photos edited with Instagram (best app ever! Aside from Words with Friends, I guess.)

OMG you guys. Today was ca-rayyy-zee at work, and I’m glad it’s over. My outfit held up nicely, even though my sanity was hanging by a thread by the time I got home:

20111110-215802.jpg

Blouse – Everly (website is wholesale only, but check out their lookbooks!)

Camisole – Gap (worn underneath the blouse to avoid a fashion peep show)

Skirt – The Limited (part of a suit)

Tights – Forever 21

Shoes – Moda Spanna

Bag – T + J Designs Ponyhair Clutch

I can’t say enough good things about this bag – although it’s a little too cumbersome for my small hands to use as a clutch (unless it’s virtually empty), the strap is completely adjustable (and beautiful!) and the bag transforms from shoulder to cross-body to clutch with ease. Plus, I love the pony-hair detail. It’s so unexpected and chic!

In case you can’t tell by my big cheesy smile, I love this outfit! The blouse is beautiful and feminine, although it’s incredibly sheer. I die for the shoulders and sleeve detail though! I usually don’t wear high-waisted skirts, but I felt like this blouse called out for it, and it’s been freezing cold in the courtroom lately, so I added these fun tights! They look opaque from a distance (i.e., in the mirror) but they’re actually a very tiny micro-pattern. Win-win!

And for the finishing touch, a rhinestone headband!

Headband – J.Crew

Excited for a three-day weekend!

I love office days! I don’t get nearly as many as I’d like, but when I do, I take full advantage of the fact that I don’t have to wear a suit. Don’t let today’s outfit fool you; I stupidly didn’t check the weather when I got dressed, and chose what I thought might be an appropriate outfit, given that it was around 70 degrees yesterday.

cardigan – Winter Kate

tank – Gap

wide-leg jeans – Old Navy

wedges – Steve Madden

bangles – T+J Designs, Juicy, Gifted from Grandma

In reality, it was 60 degrees out (currently 52) and rained all day long. The midwest girl in me felt right at home, but the California girl stupidly wore open-toed shoes and cursed the puddles in the parking lot at work. Oops. Thankfully I had this jacket (on sale right now at Old Navy!) in my office, so I was able to stay relatively warm.

I’ll leave you with a photo of my cat, Fatman, in his Halloween costume (also from Old Navy*)

MEOWloween

*Please note that I received no consideration from Old Navy for the contents of this post – I just ended up mentioning them a lot of times! :)

If you’ve been reading this blog for any amount of time (or if you just happen to be clicking through – in which case Hello!!!! – ) you’ll know two things: 1) I like my cats, and 2) I LOVE using Instagram. Here’s a recap of last week in all Instagram.

20111030-213012.jpg

(bangles)

Bracelets – T + J Designs (hammered bangle and small gold bangle with etchings)

I love these bracelets so much! They’re just the right size for small wrists, and they’re incredibly affordable, yet look so expensive. This entire line of jewelery/accessories is by two of my favorite fashion bloggers, Tiffany (I am Style-ish) and Jennifer (Red Soles and Red Wine). Here’s wishing them continued success with their business!

Lips – Makeup For Ever Aqua Cream in 08

I don’t usually wear this much makeup, but I had a choir concert and a liddlebit of rare extra time before I had to be at the venue, so I went with a bold lip. This lipstick is amazing. The link says it’s eyeshadow, but the specific shade (#08) is formulated for lips/cheeks. It’s the best red I’ve found to date!

Here’s a slightly different look:

20111030-213031.jpg

(grrrrr)

We had cute little Halloween goody bags given to us at work by one of our intrepid (and bilingual!) investigators. This was my favorite part of my bag.

20111030-213448.jpg

(treats)

I worked three 14-hour days, a 10-hour day, and so I only worked for about half of Friday, which meant more work on Sunday(!) Sometimes it feels like it never ends. Don’t get me wrong though, some days I’m done by 3:00 and home from the gym and back in my comfy clothes by 5:30. I need some more of those days :) Fatman likes to help.

20111030-213501.jpg

(furry paperweight)

The kitten is slightly less intrepid.

(sleepy kitty)

Have a safe and happy Halloween!
