My entire office has read the Hunger Games series over the past few months, and I’m not ashamed to admit I stayed up all night on Monday reading “Mockingjay” AND spent part of my Cesar Chavez day in the movie theater trying (and failing miserably) to mask the fact that I was crying at a death scene, so when I saw Katniss’s signature braid start popping up on my friends (Exhibit A: Blondie, Esq.) I tried it myself. And failed miserably. I think I actually managed to tie a knot in my hair! Thankfully, my coworker was there to rescue me.
I love a good braid, and this one solves the problem of the layers that fall out when I just try to do a side-braid! I definitely need to work on my self-braiding skills though, unless I can somehow convince my coworker to meet me every morning and do my hair . Here’s the rest of my outfit (sans sweater):

And the pigsty of a room is all my handiwork. Here’s a close-up of this gorgeous necklace from T+J Designs. I saw it on Red Soles and Red Wine’s instagram feed and immediately ordered one for myself!
